29-2/1-3 Just arrived

Time for a rest day since we now have a place on the nicest stretch of water we have found up to now. We have a great crew with lots of initiative. Everyone has his or her own tasks when making camp. I gave my shovel to Alain (less weight) and this was used daily to make a flat area for the tents. Bienvenu was cook. Bertrand made the benches, Akoro and Balfou looked after the water and fire (their characters were the reverse).

Then the discussion about what to do next was started. By now we should be in the vicinity of a kind of trail. "Imagine - a path in an uninhabited jungle!" "Yes, but is it marked on the map? Look - this dotted line from Konossoville to Kon (centre of Minkebe)! Ok but the west-east route will be used more often?" "Possibly, but everyone must cut his own path and this map is dated 1966, so what do you want to do?"

In the evening I stood for an hour at the water's edge with telescope and camera. Three calaos zoomed overhead. A kingfisher gave a display and there were some smaller birds Beautiful dragonflies, butterflies and some noise from frogs...
