The Ivindo expedition, 3 - 21 august 2009

The Ivindo National Park is a vast forest area south of the Ivindo river in eastern Gabon. From Makokou you can sail down the river by pirogue (canoe) until the Kongou falls. From there we continued by foot through the jungle in southern direction, our goal was the Langoué bai. This is an open swampy area where a lot of animals come. As we came closer to the bai we found more gorilla tracks and ultimately we have been able to "spy" on them on the edge of the bai.
